Friday 27th March
As we reach the final days of the Spring Term, I am delighted to reflect on what has been a truly positive and enriching time for our school community.
The past few days have been filled with excitement, not least because of the wonderful Parents’ Association Mothers’ Day stall. Many pupils took full advantage of this opportunity, and I have no doubt that some very special gifts will soon be making their way to loved ones. Adding to the joy, the PA also organised a delightful early visit from the Easter Bunny, ensuring every pupil received a delicious chocolate egg. A heartfelt thank you to the PA for their continued dedication – their efforts throughout the term have been deeply appreciated, and we eagerly look forward to more wonderful events in the Summer Term.
Year 3 had a fantastic time on their trip to the Natural History Museum in Tring on Wednesday. Their enthusiasm and engagement were met with glowing feedback from the museum staff, a testament to their curiosity and exemplary behaviour. It is always gratifying to hear such praise, and we must never take it for granted – well done to the Year 3 team!
This week also saw the final of our parent engagement evenings for the term, with Year 4 families coming together for their consultations. These evenings have been invaluable opportunities to celebrate progress and share insights. I will be writing in much more detail in my Easter letter, but I am thrilled to share that Duncombe has once again achieved outstanding 11+ results. Our pupils have secured the highest total number of both offers and scholarships & with an incredible 100% success rate in securing their first-choice schools. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, and my warmest congratulations go to our pupils, staff, and families for their dedication and hard work in achieving these fantastic outcomes.
Finally, a thank you from me, I have had the pleasure of welcoming several new families to our school very recently, a great number of whom have come to us through recommendations from our current parents. There is no greater compliment, and it is truly heartening to see our community grow in this way – thank you.
Do look out for my Easter letter which will be sent to you during the holidays.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable Mothers’ Day this weekend and a joyous Easter break. Mr Phelan
