An exceptional outdoor learning experience
At Duncombe, we're passionate about providing enriching learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom setting. Our Forest School, located in The Dell, was once a sunken woodland garden in Victorian times and now provides a tranquil setting. Surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature, our Forest School provides a serene and peaceful atmosphere where children can learn and play.
Following the Forest School principles, our lessons are designed to foster curiosity, confidence, self-esteem, creativity, communication skills, and a deep understanding of the natural environment.
At the beginning of each session, our children delight in sliding into The Dell - setting the tone for their outdoor learning experience.
Exploring the wonder of Forest Schools for young adventurers
From Early Kindergarten to Year 5, children eagerly anticipate their weekly Forest School lessons, where they engage in child-centered learning, exploration, and play.
Our younger children delight in activities like searching for the Gingerbread Man, listening to stories, and toasting marshmallows for s'mores.
Empowering older children through nature-based education
Meanwhile, our older children enjoy activities such as den making, where they learn to negotiate, problem-solve, and work as a team. And with our purpose-built outdoor shelter, lessons continue rain or shine.
In Year 6, our children shift their focus to wellbeing, taking traditional lessons outside and enjoying the Forest School in an alternative way to suit their curriculum.
